Highlights and Lowlights

CreateFaith believes consumers share some of the responsibility for the products they buy. Highlights and Lowlights will give you some insight on what companies are providing good products and what companies are ripping you off. If you know of a product you want highlighted or lowlighted, send it to me via the CONTACT US page.

Del Monte Petite Cut (No salt added) Diced Tomatos

I drained an entire cup of juice from this one can of diced tomatos. No salt added? No tomatos added either. I'm not sure if this was a fluke can, or if Del Monte is trying to save a little money at our expense. In any event, I intend to pursue this complaint with them. I'll let you know how they compensate.

On a good note, you can get coupons for these on the Del Monte website.

Lowlight

Nabisco Big & Soft Nutter Butter Cookies. I paid $3.39 for 8 of these, thinking I was getting something big. I was quite surprised when I unwrapped the small version in the box. In all fairness, the words "enlarged to show detail" appear very small above the big picture, but to me, its deceiving.

None the less, they are delicious! Containing 9 grams of fat each, I guess they don't need to be any bigger.

Lowlight

AQUAFINA for their new Eco-Fina bottle. It's more like "Eco-flimsy"- the bottle on the left. Made from "an average of 50% less plastic" (it's on the bottle), this bottle is super thin and I have qualms about refilling it. By the way, I did test to see if it was the exact amount as older bottles, and to their credit, it is.

A few notes:
  • I like AquaFina's product, just not the new bottle
  • The website states "it uses 50% less plastic than their 2002 bottle"
  • I am thinking that it's maybe not so much an environmental thing, but a   cost factor. If you can't refill them, you have to buy more.
  • This saves the company money in plastic, AND increases sales.

     Highlight         DEBBIE MEYER GREEN BAGS
These bags do just what they say they will do. They save money by eliminating waste! Green Bags come in two sizes. You get 20 for about $10. They keep fruits and vegatables fresher longer by "absorbing and removing damaging gases". (It's on the box)

A few notes:
  •  Each bag is reusable-you may need to rinse, so let dry thoroughly before you reuse.
  • The box says you can reuse 8-10 times. I haven't been able to reuse that many times, but enough to get my money's worth.
  • Be sure the fruits or produce are dry when you store them.
  • I got mine at Walmart. You can also get them online at Debbie's site.
